Globalization and Localization Association Announces 2008 Board Officers
Globalization and Localization Association
Seattle, Washington, USA -- The Globalization and Localization
Association (GALA) has announced the 2008 GALA Board officers. The six
board members, four of whom are newly elected to two-year terms, have
agreed to the board positions and will commence work immediately.
Kim
Harris of text & form GmbH, who is in the second year of her two-year
team, will act as Chairperson of the 2008 Board. Peter Reynolds of Idiom
Technologies will assume the role of Vice Chair; Maria Gabriela Morales of
Rosario Traducciones y Servicios will act as Secretary; Michael Sank of
TransPerfect will be Treasurer; Matthias Caesar of Locatech GmbH will act
as the GALA Board's Spokesperson; and, Arancha Caballero of TSG will be
Membership Liaison.
"I am looking forward to following in the path
of Stephen Ryan, our previous Chairperson, as we continue to pursue
long-term strategic goals and follow the GALA 2010 Plan that was drafted
last year," said Harris. "This is a very active and committed board, so it
will be an exciting year."
Harris refers to the comprehensive
2010 Plan developed under the previous board's direction. The 2010 Plan is
designed to guide association activities and growth for the next three
years in four main areas: resource, visibility, regional value and healthy
organizational structure.
The new position of Board Spokesperson is
in line with the board's goal to increase the visibility of GALA and the
industry it represents. Caesar will work closely with the marketing and PR
team to fulfill that aspect of the 2010 Plan.
