Globalization and Localization Association Announces 2008-09 Board Members
Globalization and Localization Association (GALA)
Association Increases Board from Five to Six Members
Seattle,
Washington, USA -- The Globalization and Localization Association
(GALA) has announced the results of the 2008-09 GALA Board elections. The
four new members, who were announced last week at the language services
and technology association's annual meeting, will expand the board in size
to six from the previous five members.
The newly elected board
members are:
Matthias Caesar (Locatech, Germany)
María Gabriela
Morales (Rosario Traducciones y Servicios, Argentina)
André Pellet
(Welocalize, USA)
Peter Reynolds (Idiom Technologies, Inc., USA)
They
join the two continuing board members, Kim Harris (text & form GmbH), and
Arancha Caballero (TSG, Spain) who are currently in the middle of their
terms on the board.
"The GALA board has shown great leadership in
representing the needs of our 260+ member companies," said Laura Brandon,
GALA Association Manager. "Now with the expansion to six board members,
the board will be even better equipped to provide strategic direction for
the association over the next two years and beyond."
Matthias
Caesar will be serving his second term as a GALA board member; previously
he was the board's secretary. In the past ten years he has worked as a
tools and process trainer, project manager and, since 1999, Managing
Director of Locatech GmbH in Germany.
María Gabriela Morales will
be GALA's first board member from South America. She is the founder of
Rosario Traducciones y Servicios, a translation and localization company
based in Rosario, Argentina, specializing in Latin American languages
(Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese).
André Pellet joined Welocalize
in 2006 through the merger of M2 Enterprises where he was President of the
family-owned, 28-year-old firm. As part of one of the oldest LSP
companies, he has worked in the industry for over 20 years.
Peter
Reynolds is Director of the LSP Advantage Program at Idiom, a partner
program which makes the Idiom WorldServer globalization management system
available to providers of localization and translation services.
The
end of this year will also mark the completion of two-year board terms
served by Stephen Ryan of Moravia Worldwide (Czech Republic), who was
Board Chairman in his final year, and Christine Bernier of Lionbridge
Technologies (USA), who served as Board Treasurer. Their tenures will be
remembered for the relentless pursuit of organizational and strategic
development of GALA. They oversaw the development of long-term planning
goals, association messaging and, most recently, the comprehensive 2010
Plan, designed to guide association activities and growth for the next
three years.
