GALA Supports Leading Industry Conference: Localization World Barcelona and More
GALA, The Globalization and Localization Association
Seattle, Washington, USA The Spring 2006 Localization World
Conference, produced by MultiLingual Computing and the Localization
Institute in cooperation with GALA, the Globalization and Localization
Association, is being held in Barcelona, May 30 to June 1. Alongside this
conference, several other industry events have emerged to create a montage
of valuable localization and translation education and networking
opportunities.
Localization World is the premiere conference for the
globalization and localization industry. May's conference is anticipating
over 500 attendees from 30 different countries. This year's program will
cover a wide range of issues in the world of translation and localization
and will focus on the theme of "working together, the old and yet new
trend of industry collaboration."
"Localization World has
become the reference event for the translation and localization industry.
The unique structure of the event guarantees value for every attendee, and
the careful selection of speakers balances innovation with education. It
is a must for the experienced professional and the newcomer to the
industry," stated Renato Beninatto, Partner of Common Sense Advisory.
Surrounding the conference are several other industry events. GALA, the
membership organization which has fast become the industry's largest, has
organized a day-long training workshop through ESIC Business & Marketing
School, the leading private marketing institution in Spain. Held on May
29, the workshop will focus on successfully selling localization and
translation services. GALA will also host a member meeting as well as a
networking dinner for members. The meeting will concentrate on interaction
among members as well as input on key issues for the association.
Meanwhile, on May 30, The Institute of Localization Professionals (TILP),
will host workshops on terminology management and advanced localization
automation techniques.
Following a successful summit in Berlin,
Germany in December 2005, LSGB, the Language Standards for Global
Business, will host a second summit May 29-30 entitled "Language
Standards: Involving the Stakeholders." The Barcelona LSGB meeting will
focus on requirements and input from all the constituencies concerned with
language standards and quality specifications.
Aki Ito, GALA board
chair and Localization World Program Committee Member feels that "these
events come at a time when our industry is flourishing. The fact that
there are so many localization events surrounding this conference is a
sign that Localization World has developed into the cornerstone of
industry events worldwide."
