GALA Announces Technology Blog
GALA: The Globalization and Localization Association
Seattle, Washington, USA -- GALA, the Globalization and
Localization Association, invites translation and localization
professionals to participate in the new GALA on Technology Blog (Web log).
Developed by GALA members, the new blog is intended to be a non-biased
open forum for discussion of the technological resources, new developments
and on-going challenges that vendors and clients are facing in the
localization and translation industries.
Who will be blogging? GALA
has gathered a core group of industry experts to contribute to the blog on
a regular basis. However, all interested parties are invited to initiate
new discussion threads and contribute to current discussion topics. GALA
moderators will ensure that the topics remain focused on relevant
technology issues.
“The goal of this blog is to create an
easily-accessed forum, where advice, information, and opinions can be
shared in a respectful environment,” stated the blog’s primary moderator,
Craig Myers. Myers has been the Vice-President, Americas & Asia at Alchemy
Software Development since 2001 and has over 15 years experience in IT
Globalization.
In addition, the blog links up to other industry
resources on the web. Member organization sites such as Common Sense
Advisory’s Global Watchtower and MultiLingual’s “Blogos” have a wealth of
information in the form of white papers, opinion polls and case studies on
their sites. The GALA on Technology Blog will be an excellent location to
carry out in-depth discussions of editorial content from those and other
sources.
Myers and the GALA Technology Committee believe that this
resource also offers a window into the world of Localization to those new
to the industry or industry technology. There is a true desire among GALA
and its members to provide a steady flow of valuable information about the
industry they represent.
“If we come together to share our thoughts
and ideas, and transcend differences caused by competitive agendas or
differing opinions, we can then develop the thought-leadership that will
help us all grow together as an industry,” says Tony O’Dowd, CEO &
President of Alchemy. O’Dowd and GALA Member Josep Condal, Managing
Director of ApSIC were central in bringing the technology blog to fruition.
One
final, critical point is that GALA will strive to involve members from all
corners of their industry, clients, vendors, academics, colleagues, and
competitors, to make this a truly informative, sometimes controversial –
but always considerate– forum.
