GALA Announces New 2006-2007 Board Members
Globalization and Localization Association (GALA)
Seattle, USA -- GALA, the Globalization and Localization
Association, recently announced the results of the 2006-2007 GALA Board
elections. This year GALA brings in three new board members to add to the
rank of this flourishing organization.
The GALA Board, which
includes leaders from the Globalization and Localization industries from
across the globe, is adding Christiane Bernier (most recently of Merrill
Brink, USA), Matthias Caesar (Locatech, Germany) and Stephen Ryan
(Moravia, Czech Republic). The new members were elected by the general
membership through an electronic ballot.
"Our new board members
will work to grow the association from the solid roots established by the
founding board members. With 170 companies now a part of GALA, we are
moving forward with a clear vision and a lot of momentum," said Laura
Brandon, the administrator for GALA.
Bernier has been in the
localization industry for over 12 years, most recently in a Sales and
Account Management capacity. For the better part of her career she has
held various Operations Management roles at Lionbridge and previously at
International Communications, DLC and Prisma International, as well as
project management and French language lead roles at Creo International.
Caesar
studied Mathematics and Computer Science at University Dortmund and
University College Dublin and joined the localization industry in 1994. In
those ten years he has been acting as a tools and process trainer, project
manager and, since 1999, Managing Director of Locatech GmbH in Germany.
Ryan,
Marketing Director for Moravia Worldwide, has worked in the translation
and localization industry since 1995 and has held positions in project
management, sales and marketing, and operations management with
International Translation and Publishing (ITP) Ltd., ALPNET Inc. and SDL
International. He has an engineering degree from Virginia Tech and an MBA
from University College Dublin.
"As a GALA board member, I will
seek to further develop the visibility of GALA within our industry,
including and especially the client-side, building on the good work of
past GALA Boards," Ryan recently stated.
The newly-elected
board members will succeed GALA's three founding board members, Hans
Fenstermacher from ArchiText Inc. (USA), Renée Sztabelski (Israel) and
Daniel Carter (Netherlands), who have devoted time, leadership and vision
to the Association since 2002.
"As founders, we are proud of the
association's accomplishments in a few short years. We look forward to
progressive, innovative ideas from the incoming Board members who, I am
confident, will lead GALA onward to even greater successes," says
Fenstermacher.
Board members Aki Ito from Prisma International
(USA) and Arancha Caballero from TSG (Spain) will continue to serve
through the end of 2006. The current Board and incoming board members have
already begun working on the transition, which will officially take place
on January 1, 2006.
