GALA Announces Call for Candidates: 2008-2009 GALA Board Elections

Globalization and Localization Association (GALA)

Seattle, Washington, USA -- The Globalization and Localization Association is currently accepting candidates for an open position on the Board of Directors. Individuals from member companies are invited to submit their candidacy by Thursday, November 29. The term of office is for two years: January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2009. Candidates should be at the decision-maker level of their company.

The GALA Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the association. It has final and complete control over decisions made by the association, including the areas of finance, legal matters, administration, personnel and others. The Board of Directors meets regularly to discuss the association's affairs and to make decisions on its business (generally two phone conferences per month, though they may conduct more frequent meetings as deemed necessary). The Board also meets at least twice a year in person at an agreed upon time and place. Each Board member participates in at least one association committee and works on specific association projects. The Board also works with and supervises the Association Development Manager, who runs the day-to-day affairs of the association. Board members can be called upon to represent GALA to other organizations and at industry conferences and meetings around the world.

Candidate statements and brief biographies will be posted to the GALA website by Monday, December 3 for members to review. Ballots will then be sent to GALA member primary contacts to elect the Board member by the majority of votes cast (one vote per member company). The voting will take place December 4-14, 2007. Results will be announced on December 17, 2007.

As a worldwide organization, GALA strives to have as broad a geographic representation as possible on the Board and looks forward to welcoming new and dynamic members who are ready to contribute to the shape and direction of GALA. Members interested in running for office should complete a candidacy form and submit it to abarnhart@gala-global.org along with a photo by Thursday, November 29, 2007.
