UK: £68m in six years for interpreters

London, UK (Daily Mail): The Home Office has spent nearly £68million on translators and interpreters in the past six years. But annual spending has dropped from a peak of £14.9m in 2004-5 to £9.5m in 2008-9. Home Secretary Alan Johnson said £67,906,000 had been spent on translation and interpretation services in the Home Office itself, the UK Border Agency, Identity and Passport Service and Criminal Records Bureau between 2003-4 and 2008-9.
