Evolving Localization and its Brand Extension
Leon Z. Lee
"Frog at the bottom of a well" is an old Asian proverb which states that a frog at the bottom of a well steadfastly believes heaven is only the size of a small circle. Only when one climbs out of the well can heaven's true vastness and magnitude be comprehended. Ageless as this proverb may be, it is also an appropriate description of the current commoditization challenge within the localization industry. More.

Message From the Board Q4 2005
Hans Fenstermacher, GALA Board Chair
As I write my message to you for this issue of GALAxy, I realize that this is the last time I will be able to address you as Chairman of GALA. Many thoughts go through my mind at this time, but mainly they are thoughts of optimism and enthusiasm. My colleagues and I founded GALA in 2002 with that same spirit of optimism and enthusiasm to develop and grow our association into a leading force in the industry. I hope you agree that we -- all of us -- are succeeding in that effort! More.

Summarized information will made available to industry media outlets and to financial, business, and related media to improve their coverage of this industry sector. Data collection for this purpose is commonplace in other industries, including retail, hospitality, airlines, and software. More. |

Post-Event Report: Negotiations Workshop
Arancha Caballero, TSG
The day before the Localization World Conference and the GALA Annual Meeting in Seattle, a group of industry professionals participated in the GALA-hosted Negotiating to Close Seminar. The instructor, Jeff Sauer, delivered a focused and practical full-day workshop, which helped me see how to better communicate with my clients both before and during the negotiating process and align my company's services with their needs for better results. Done well, this can mean never even having to negotiate in the first place (at least, in the traditional sense). More.
