Company description: RR Donnelley Translation and Multilingual Communications With access to over 1000 pre-qualified and pre-screened in-country translators around the globe and with more than 30 multilingual project managers handling your project, RR Donnelley Translation & Multilingual Communications offers unparallel translation capabilities to get your document translated. The action of translating a document is a challenge of comprehension and innate decision making. Delivering a new, or target, language that is regarded as a good translation is a result of linguists maintaining three criteria as directives in their work. Accuracy: In order to express the original idea in the most loyal manner, a translator may use grammatical forms and words/phrasing that differ from those of the source language. This is not an issue so long as the meaning of the message is unchanged. Clarity: Translators master two languages and negotiate the difficulties that arise when trying to transfer communications from one language and culture to another. These issues underlie the multi-disciplinary nature of this work and are sources of most challenges. Flow: Every person writes differently regardless of a translators preference for style or tone, translation protocol dictates that the target language reflect the same flow as the original writing style. The best translations are read in a natural way. Naturally good or bad, the translated test must flow appropriately in the target language and represent the source copy. We often partner with clients' graphic designers or technology team as we tailor a solution, working within brand parameters and publication deadlines. Glossary Preparation and Management A translation is only as good as its glossary. RR Donnelley Translation & Multilingual Communications always applies and constantly updates its glossaries for each market segment. For example, for the translation of financial documents, our standard financial glossary containing more than 1,700 terms will be applied. Time permitting, client/project specific glossaries can be created before the translation process, which are then approved by the client. Such glossaries become the property of the client, for use by in-house linguists and overseas offices. Translation Memory Leveraging RR Donnelley Translation & Multilingual Communications utilizes translation-memory (TM) as well as terminology management tools whenever applicable and cost efficient. Translation-memory tools are highly effective in the translation of high-volume documentation and/or short turnaround times. Two major objectives are accomplished when deploying TM technologies: substantial improvement in translation consistency depending on repetition, a sizeable reduction in turnaround time In some cases, previously translated material can be "aligned" and therefore repurposed for future translation projects.
