2006 Localization World Barcelona: Over 20 GALA member companies contributed prizes to the prize session

14 February 10:00 EST (16:00 CET)
Join Paul Leahy for this joint webinar with OASIS that will explore the possibilities of XLIFF. Hear how Oracle, a large organization that creates a significant volume of content which is translated in up to 40 languages, has used XLIFF to drive efficiencies across the end-to-end content lifecycle.
Oracle's strategy is to build engineered solutions through open technology and standards. XLIFF compliments this strategy and is extensively used through Oracle's Translation Platform. The case study presented in this webinar will show what is possible with XLIFF including certain controls that can address some limitations that exist with the standard today. Paul will also discuss OASIS XLIFFv2.0, an initiative he hopes will lead to the standard enabling similar success in an open industry ecosystem.
This free webinar is jointly sponsored by GALA and OASIS.
About the presenter
Paul Leahy is Senior Director of Engineering / Translation Infrastructure at Oracle's European Development Centre in Dublin. His team is responsible for delivering the engineering solutions that enable Oracle to simultaneously release their products in ~40 languages. Paul was one of the founding members of Oracle's Worldwide Product Translation Group (WPTG) back in 1996. During this time he has held many different engineering & management positions. His focus has been on building an automated scalable Translation Platform, and in recent years extending this platform to support Oracle's growing product footprint. Prior to Oracle, Paul worked at Symantec.

This free webinar is made possible through the GALA Standards Initiative, a program which promotes the effective use of standards for international and multilingual content, builds awareness of best practices for their implementation, and helps the localization community make open standards work.
