María Gabriela Morales has a degree in both English into Spanish and French into Spanish translation. She is the founder of Rosario Traducciones y Servicios, an innovative translation and localization company based in Rosario, Argentina, specializing in Latin American languages (Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese). In 1995, Gabriela opened the office of Lazoski, Beninatto & Associados - the first translation company in the region. After that, she managed the South American Spanish operations of LMI and Berlitz in Argentina and Chile.

She is also one of the founding members of Translated in Argentina, a cluster of individual, Spanish translation bureaus from Argentina offering translation and localization services to translation agencies, localization companies, direct clients and software developers around the globe.

Being a member of an SLV from a distant country, yet with MLV and international corporate experience, I'd like to offer a fresh approach to our industry challenges.

I believe that GALA's main challenge is to promote activities that will increase the volume of localization in the world and to stimulate relationships among vendors, by providing an environment where translation companies can communicate and share experiences.

I am convinced that technology is not all that matters, since our main resources are still linguists around the world; GALA should establish itself as a comprehensive source of knowledge dissemination and productivity improvement. After all, it's all about human communications.
