I was born and raised in Most, CZ. In 2001, I graduated with a Master's degree in Science of Education majoring in Mathematics and Geography at university UJEP in Usti and Labem, CZ. After graduation, I completed several managerial educational programs.

In 1996, I started my career as a director at Skrivanek translation agency in Usti and Labem, CZ. First, the agency provided the local businesses with translation and interpretation services. Soon the company expanded and entered the localization world at an international dimension serving clients in Central Europe (Hungary, Slovenia), later in the Baltic region, Western Europe (Germany, Belgium), China, and lastly USA. In 2000, I became a General Manager at a company Skrivanek with more than 300 employees in 52 service establishments and 13 countries. In 2005 I founded CEET Ltd. - Central and Eastern European Translations that has become one of the leading European translation companies providing localization services with special expertise in Central and Eastern European languages.

Over the course of past eleven years, I have been fortunate enough to experience the establishment, growth, and continuing development of globalization and localization services in a very unique yet rich region - a region that has experienced the transition from a post-communist system to a system adapted to the needs and standards of European Community. As such, I had the opportunity to learn about and witness the challenges associated with such dynamic and radical changes such as those experienced by majority of transitional economies. As a GALA candidate, I can bring and share these experiences and knowledge with other GALA members, helping it to better understand the nature and intricacies of globalization and localization operations in a post-communist Eastern block. Perhaps my membership could then contribute to GALA's effort to become a more powerful voice within such a diverse community such as the one we all happen to be part of.
