Message from the Board Q4 2008

Kim Harris, GALA Board Chair

As we approach the end of the year, I'd like to thank all of you for your continued support of our association. This year has been a year of growth and transition for GALA. We've built on a solid foundation of benefits for the GALA membership, which is now close to 300 corporate members, the most sizable group in our industry. And we've prepared for exciting things to come.

At the end of last quarter, we hired Jim Hollan, GALA’s first executive director. He has been busy at work implementing GALA’s 2010 plan to increase visibility, develop more resources and regional value for members, and create a healthy management structure.

In the past three months, GALA and the membership have been a part of several great industry events from Lisbon to Madison to Wiesbaden. The membership also recently elected three new board members to the GALA Board of Directors. The current board is pleased to welcome DimitriStoquart (Stoquart SA, Belgium), Serge Gladkoff (Logrus International, USA/Russia), and Robinson Kelly (Clay Tablet Technologies, Canada) to the 2009-2010 Board of Directors.

2009 will be the second year of GALA’s 2010 Plan. I am thrilled to announce that GALA will host its first Annual Meeting and Convention in September of 2009. As we “go to press,” we are finalizing the dates and location, and will announce these to you before year’s end. Stay tuned for details.

GALA will also hire European-based public relations services next year to help promote the message of our industry to more readers in European markets. We will also continue to actively promote the industry with content and case studies provided by GALA members.

Next year is shaping up to be an exciting year for GALA and its members!

On a personal note, this message is my final one as chairperson of the board. I have enjoyed working with the GALA leadership team and with many of you around the world. I thank you for the opportunity to serve our industry, and I look forward to continuing my participation as a member in this great association.

For the GALA Board,

Kim Harris
GALA Board Chairperson
