Start time: 11:00 EDT (17:00 CET)
Balázs Kis will present "Term Extraction Methods & Algorithms," an expert webinar sponsored by Kilgray Translation Technologies on Monday, May 5 at 11:00 EDT (17:00 CET).
Term extraction and terminology management is a crucial phase in the workflow of a complex translation task. Terminology work also has its workflow within the translation project. It occurs in all three main phases of a translation project, namely, preparation, execution and reviewing.
This presentation will briefly cover the phases of the terminology workflow, then address term extraction methods and technologies that yield close-to-complete terminology resources at the preparation phase, based on the complete source text. The presentation will also cover the aspects of quality assurance in the translation process.
The presentation provides a case study of a complex term extraction task. The case study focuses on the translation of a technical book of ca. 200,000 words. A hybrid (proprietary) term extraction tool is run through the text. Then the presentation shows how the results can be post-processed, reviewed and distributed as part of a collaborative translation project.
The presentation will end with a live demonstration of the terminology preparation process that is in use at SZAK Publishers, the publishing company the presenter is involved in.
